The Miracles & challenges of
Highly aware children

by  Aila   Arya   anam

Cover by Josephine Wall
“We must flip our ways of seeing parenthood. Instead of believing we must grow up and be adults we must become more childlike.”

BOOK      SYNOPSIS
the This is a unique book. It does not espouse more parenting methods or techniques to follow but honors those who are raising the consciousness of humanity through the tending of The Child. The author supports and demonstrates child rearing as one of the highest devotional paths and the most challenging of vocations, especially if the child is Highly Aware.

The words “evolution” and “miracle” mentioned together may cause confusion or a hesitancy to read past the title. Not only have the scientific and spiritual worlds been long held in conflict but the concept of miraculous has been reserved only for God, not Human. In sharing her own upbringing and parenting journey, the author offers reconciliation and liberation from long and deeply held beliefs and wounds that deny the blessed magic of childhood as a key contributor to human potential.

This book is a guide through the gifts and challenges that Highly Aware generations are presenting.   Their essential gift being the realization that we are not only caring for the young under our wings but for the inner child in our hearts. Their challenges are not only the ones they personally face but also those they present to us through their mirroring and questioning.

While we become aware and tend to our inner child, we let go of the conditioning and transform the traumas around the parent-child relationship. We reawaken our innate knowing and primal value of Family and Childhood.  In recovering our authentic core self, we lovingly open to the greater possibilities of Life and the Magic that the Highly Aware generations display.

Parenting practices from the past are put into context of inherited traumas and the environmental conditions of each generation. Ageism gives way to recognizing that both the qualities of experience and of innocence can synergize into a powerful Human Being.

Gathered from her own life and single parenthood in her 40s, the author lays out areas of her journey that encountered pitfalls as well as delightful discoveries.  Aila blends multi- disciplines to illustrate that no one label or approach can capture what is unfolding in our Human development.
Aila articulates what Highly Aware generations are and how the momentum of their traits is building around the world from their sporadic appearances in history.

Her professional background in biomedical research, community development, human potential and her lineage of intuitive visionaries, allows Aila to bring, what she feels, are imperative perspectives and choices towards stewarding the future of Humanity.

A Universal Being           This poem became quite popular in the 70s, a period in time when the West was
re-evaluating parenting      and education.    The poem describes a transition from perceiving our children
as possessions or genetic      extensions to precious beings    of the Universe who we have agreed to look
after while in our presence.

On Children       -        Kahlil    Gibran  1883-1931
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you, but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit,
not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows
are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

INTRODUCTION
This is not a typical parenting or educational how-to book.  It contends that parenting and mentoring youth is less about the complexity of learning new techniques and more about the simplicity of remembering what it felt like when we were children, when we were the most joyful and when we felt shut down. We are encouraged to rediscover and embrace our unique styles and let them shine through to the children we are surrounded by.

The discoveries and suggestions described within these pages are directed at those adults who find themselves in need of more holistic and expanded considerations to address children who are not fitting into conventional boxes. There have been many born throughout the ages that fit this description, but the newer generations are pushing boundaries in ever greater numbers. The author terms these generations as the Highly Aware.  They are born with significant sensitivities, broader spectrums of thinking and newer ways of learning.

The psychological and developmental sciences of the past are no longer sufficient to address what is evolving through our children. It is becoming quite apparent that the disparity between scientific explanation and extraordinary phenomenon is unresolved among many thinkers, teachers, practitioners and parents.  Where some authorities articulate only intellectual view-points on growth and learning, others attach to an idea of super power children defying the constructs of reality.  The presence of polarized and exclusive positions is an indication that dramatic shifts are looming. When facing imminent change, we tend to either stick to what is known or rebel against the status quo.

Our children are inviting us to entertain the metamorphosis of humanity. This requires an integration of the old while the new is in the process of revealing itself. To assist each other through this transformation, we need to balance formal objective assessment with grassroots anecdotal experiences. We need to share with one another the practicalities and insights we derive from every-day life.

We are not as alone as we may think in learning how to navigate a family or educational journey during these cultural, political and planetary shifts.  More than ever before, parents, teachers, counselors and community members are waking up to the idea that we need to support one another in these new territories.  Parenting and educating now require an openness to change at very deep levels. Our resilience will persevere.

In these accelerated times, we often seek the quickest and most direct path to raising and educating our children.  A go-to formula that works for every child in every situation is welcomed as we try to put healthy food on the table, a roof over our heads and provide opportunities that are fun and enriching.     The world is rapidly changing from when we were growing up. The choices available to us and the decisions we need to make have multiplied exponentially.  On top of that, there is an uncertainty permeating the air. It portends an unprecedented alteration in almost every assumption and institution that we have based our lives on.
How the heck do we guide the new ones who are entering this uncertain era?

“Our world is changing. Sometimes I don’t know what to do
but I will always be by you side as we figure things out together.”
Here’s the good news....
We don’t have to have the answers. All we have to have is the willingness to learn alongside them. The best thing we can do for children during this great turning of the evolutionary wheel is to reassure them that we will be by their side as we travel new terrain. Contrary to common belief, a sense of stability does not come from predictability but from a surety that there is consistent and trustworthy connections with the people in our surroundings.       Instead of feeling the pressure to know the answer, we are now invited to go into the unknown WITH our children.  We do not have to pretend that we understand the world as it unravels and re-folds before our eyes.       The way we perceive and handle change and uncertainty is the most important skill our youth can receive from us.

Are we positive and optimistic about what is possible in the midst of chaos?
Do we recognize that this is a time of opportunity to use our imagination and think    outside the box?

Especially for those termed the Highly Aware, we want to be cognizant of our own emotional reactions. The Highly Aware can be significantly sensitive to our stress and fear responses.  Additionally, these children actually seem to have a greater tolerance and familiarity than previous generations regarding multi-layered, dynamic change. If we can loosen our grip, relax and hold as much neutrality as possible, we just might learn something from them.

The generations arriving now display intelligences and forms of processing that are creating a whole new world.  They are nudging us to let go of outdated paradigms that perpetuate conflict and overwhelm. The traits they are attempting to integrate into current society contain new skill sets. Skills that will break us through to a more sophisticated, mature, streamlined, simple, harmonious, and holistic life of beauty and peace.

Living in such balance with Earth and the Universe can be hard for us to imagine….
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Until we follow their lead.
